A Million Thanks to Karen James, a Pineville resident.
Karen donated a used van to a former Hope House resident who had completed her respective goals and transitioned into permanent housing a few weeks ago. The van was donated to a resident that did not have transportation of her own. She relied on the bus transit system to get where she and her three children needed to be. Her tenure at Hope House was not easy but she pulled through and successfully completed the goals she had set when she entered Hope House. Accomplishing life goals takes determination and action. This resident successfully accomplished more than she expected to, including the ultimate goal of transitioning into her own permanent housing. Way to go !

Children's Services Center Summer 2007

School is out and so the fun begins!
The children of Hope House have been busy. While Moms are working toward their goals, the children are participating full time in the Children's Services Center. They are engaging in child-centered activities that are designed to help build self-esteem, adapt to new coping skills, learn basic problem solving, how to resolve conficts in a positive manner, adapt to positive social interaction with others, as well as a wide array of other activities. Additionally, the children are exposed to art, music and clay therapy in group and individual sessions. The child-centered activities foster breaking the cycle of homelessness. We want every child to be able to be all that they can be.
During the course of the summer program, the children have been making weekly visits to the Rapides Parish Library for some fun reading time, and thanks to some very special community sponsors, the children have enjoyed a few field trips as well. We would like to offer a very special "Thank You" to everyone who contributed to the field trips:

"Hope for the Homeless"

One High School student helped to make the Holidays brighter for the women and children of Hope House. Heather Badeaux, a Senior at Menard High School, raised nearly $4,000 by selling hand-painted Christmas ornaments. Heather designed, painted and marketed the beautiful ornaments. She donated all of the funds she generated to Hope House. Hope House appreciates the valued time and talents of this young lady!
Heather is a prime example of positive young leadership living right here in our community! We welcome young leaders to join the Hope House team. It is exciting to witness the inspiration and positive motivation that young leaders render to the homeless children residing at Hope House. They truly make a difference by being strong role models for the children. |

Ty Pennington, star of the hit TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, recently visited Central Louisiana. Ty was in town to give a makeover to the employee breakroom at the local Sears store. In return, Sears donated $5000 to Hope House in support of the Hope House mission. On behalf of everyone at Hope House, thanks to Sears and Ty Pennington for making a difference in the lives of our residents!
